EVERYONE IS A VOLUNTEER!

THERE ARE ALWAYS THINGS TO DO AT LAPUNYAH……………

Volunteers can be involved in:

  • Daily Meet’n’Greet duties

  • Exhibition Installations

  • Events@Lapunyah duties during and after hours

  • Offsite Volunteering Duties

  • Committee and Key Volunteer roles

  • Working Bees@Lapunyah

  • Volunteeer Group@Lapunyah

EVERYONE CAN BE A MEET ’N’ GREET VOLUNTEER

  • Meeting and greeting visitors

  • Meet’n’Greet Volunteers can do two or more shifts of four hours each over a month

  • Shifts can be on a regular time slot or fit in with the Volunteers own schedule

  • Administration duties – answering phones, taking messages, statistics on visitors, sales of artworks and merchandise (using a Tyro non-cash machine)

  • Daily duties – pick up and drop off keys at Chinchilla Customer Service Centre, collecting mail from CCSC, putting out and bringing back in Teardrop OPEN flags, general ‘household’ duties etc

EVENTS@LAPUNYAH VOLUNTEERS

For Volunteers unable to Volunteer during opening Hours, volunteering after hours can be a chance to contribute by helping set-up, monitor during and clear-up after the event:

  • Exhibition Openings

  • Music@Lapunyah

  • Markets@Lapunyah

  • Workshops@Lapunyah

WORKING BEES@LAPUNYAH

Working Bees are held once a month on the Monday following the monthly general meeting. These are for the purpose of maintaining gallery equipment, preparation of ‘props’ for upcoming exhibitions, and general gallery tidying.

Each session is for two hours from 9am to 11am.

EVERYONE CAN BE AN INSTALLATION TEAM VOLUNTEER

There are two events which happen in the display life of an exhibition. These are:

  • The Installation – the unpacking, and putting up and/or placement of the artworks for display

  • The Demount – the taking down and repacking of the artworks

DEMOUNT: Artworks taken down; Artwork check and condition reporting; Repacking of artworks

INSTALLATION: Unpacking of artworks; Condition reporting of artworks; Installation of artworks

Installation Team Volunteers are under the direction of the Exhibition Facilitator/Curator who determines the following:

  • The positioning of the artworks in the exhibition space

  • The method by which artworks are installed

  • The equipment needed for the installation

Installation Team Volunteers can expect to use the following equipment: safety ladder, small step ladder, hand tools (electrical and manual), tape-measures and calculators, laser leveller, hanging wires and hooks, plinths, mannequins, mobile walls.

All Volunteers are mentored in installation techniques.

OFFSITE VOLUNTEERING DUTIES

Offsite Volunteering can be in various ways and involves Volunteers living across the Western Downs region and beyond.

Volunteers can become a part of Lapunyah’s Publicity Network by:

  • Distributing hard copies of LAG pamphlets, brochures and flyers within their community

  • Share Facebook posts from Lapunyah Art Gallery through their own networks

  • Inform local artists and arts/crafts groups of opportunities available at Lapunyah

  • Become a liaison person between their own local creative community and LAG

COMMITTE AND KEY VOLUNTEERS ROLES

Lapunyah Art Gallery Inc. is a Volunteer Run Not for Profit organisation which means it is an Incorporated body and as such is managed by a Committee with:

  • An elected Executive - President, Vice-President, Treasurer (each serving for a maximum of 3 years)

  • An appointed Secretary (serving for a maximum of 3 years)

  • Key Volunteers who choose to do additional duties related to Gallery Management e.g. Workshop Convenor, Shop@Lapunyah Manager, Merchandise Convenor…

VOLUNTEER GROUP@LAPUNYAH

Local art and crafts groups are invited to become a Volunteer Group at Lapunyah.

Volunteer Groups meet at Lapunyah Art Gallery Workshop Space during gallery opening hours and undertake the duties of Meet’n’Greet Volunteers.

This entitles the Volunteer Group to:

  • Free use of the LAG Workshop Space for the day of Volunteering and for own workshops

  • Eligible for all benefits of a Lapunyah Art Gallery Volunteer - including tea/coffee, use of kitchen facilities and utensils, onsite resources

  • Auspicing by LAG Inc. of grant applications by Volunteer Group for workshops and equipment

  • Free storage of arts and crafts tools etc at LAG
