The Latin phrase ‘memento mori’ translates to ‘remember you must die’, a realistation that exists through time and culture. The modern world has disconnected us from the fact that we all must die. I’ve always been fascinated by the inevitable and inescapable cycle of life and the physical remains of animals once their time has passed. To me, it’s a reminder that life is finite and death can be celebrated as part of the natural cycle. I source remains form animals that were naturally deceased, sustainably harvested, and either feathers or skins shed, to honour their lives as wearable or displayable art, as our ancestors once did.
