Chinchilla Melon Festival Art Exhibition 2027

It is time to start thinking about your Chinchilla Melon Festival Art Exhibition artwork! This exhibition is an art competition with seven categories: Open 3D, Open 2D, Open Textile, Open Photo/Video, Youth 13 to 18, Youth 6 to 12 (Chinchilla landscape theme), and Youth Under 6 (watermelon character theme). Open categories have a $10 entry fee, and youth categories are free to enter. Limit of four entries per artist for Open categories and two entries per artist for Youth Categories.

Our opening night is a great night in the lead up to the Chinchilla Melon Festival. Lapunyah Art Gallery is very excited to share that our judge for the Chinchilla Melon Festival Art Exhibition is a highly esteemed practicing artist, and art mentor - watch this space for updates!

Terms and Conditions

  • Exhibition Timeline and Terms and Conditions must be adhered to

  • 4 Entries/person for Open Categories

  • 2 Entries/person for Youth Categories

  • All artworks to have been completed between January 2025 to February 2027

  • All artworks must be for sale

  • Artists from within and outside the Western Downs region may enter

  • All artworks must be able to be hung or installed safely, and mediums used to be dry

  • Instructions must be given for any artwork requiring special installation

  • 2D artworks to have suitable D rings only attached; no wires or string

  • Top of the D ring should be placed 6cms from top of the frame for artworks over 30cm depth and 4cms from top of frame for works under 30cm depth

  • Artwork must have label attached on lower left-hand corner on back, with artist’s name and the name of artwork

  • Lapunyah Art Gallery Installation Team will install all artwork

  • Lapunyah Art Gallery volunteers will perform Condition Reports on all artwork

  • Photographs of artworks may be used for publicity purposes by Lapunyah Art Gallery

  • Lapunyah Art Gallery takes all care but accepts no responsibility for theft or damage

  • Arrangements for freight, costs and transit insurance are the responsibility of artist

  • All artists with sold artworks will be contacted by a designated Volunteer by the end of the exhibition period to inform them their artwork has been sold and to confirm Artist’s Bank details

  • Artist will be paid, less 20% Commission, for sold artworks after the monthly General Meeting which follows the end of the exhibition

  • Artworks to be collected within 3 working days after demount of exhibition. After 30 days, unclaimed artworks will be dealt with at the discretion of LAG Inc.

INELIGIBLE ENTRIES:

  • Artworks previously displayed at Lapunyah Art Gallery

  • Any award winning artworks from another competition

  • Artworks created or designed using AI technology

  • Artworks produced in a workshop or bridging copyright or deemed to not be wholly the work of the named entrant

  • Artworks not reflecting the ethos of Lapunyah Art Gallery Inc,

  • Artworks deemed unsuitable for installation in the exhibition due to size, installation requirements or material used
