Lapunyah Art Gallery is a Regional Art Gallery situated in Chinchilla, Queensland. It has been run by a not-for-profit Volunteer organisation, the Lapunyah Art Gallery Inc. Committee, since 1999, with support from the Chinchilla Shire Council initially, and then the Western Downs Regional Council. It strives to achieve the National Australia Museum Standards for Museums and Art Galleries. The gallery infrastructure has recently undergone major renovations.

Exhibition proposals from local and regional artists, arts and craft groups are strongly encouraged. Artisans from outside the Western Downs Region are also invited to submit proposals.

OUR GALLERY SPACES

Gallery 1

The main exhibition space, Gallery 1, has 38 running metres of exhibition hanging space with additional mobile walls available. It is used for Artist or Group based exhibitions, touring exhibitions and Gallery-run competitions and exhibitions. Digital art can also be catered for with a large wall projector, a small mobile projector and a large mobile TV. Fees apply for Artist or Group based exhibitions.

Gallery 2

A smaller second exhibition space, Gallery 2, is not available for booking by artists or groups. It is used for display and sale of local arts and crafts exhibitions e.g. ANON, for special exhibition themes e.g. NAIDOC, or overflow from large touring exhibitions previously approved by Lapunyah Art Gallery Inc.

Gallery 3

Gallery 3, a wall in the Workshop/Events Space, is used for displaying local artists and craftworkers art for sale as a part of our SEE, BUY, TAKE Merchandise program. Artists can apply for a Merchandise Sales form. Terms and Conditions apply. No fees.
